Derrick White Traded To Boston Celtics In Three Team Deal

Derrick White Traded to Boston Celtics in Three-Team Deal

Celtics send Josh Richardson and Romeo Langford to Spurs

White provides needed depth at point guard

In a move that could potentially shake up the Eastern Conference playoff picture, the Boston Celtics have acquired point guard Derrick White from the San Antonio Spurs in a three-team deal. The Celtics sent guard Josh Richardson and forward Romeo Langford to the Spurs in return for White.

White, 27, is averaging 14.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game this season. He is a solid defender and has shown the ability to knock down shots from three-point range. The Celtics hope that White will provide some much-needed depth at point guard behind Marcus Smart and could potentially start alongside him in the playoffs.

The Spurs, meanwhile, get two young players with upside in Richardson and Langford. Richardson, 28, is averaging 9.7 points and 3.2 rebounds per game this season. He is a good defender and can provide some scoring punch off the bench. Langford, 22, is a former lottery pick who has shown flashes of potential but has struggled to stay healthy. He could be a valuable piece for the Spurs if he can develop his game.

The Celtics are now one of the favorites to win the Eastern Conference championship. They have a deep and talented roster that is led by Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. White should help them improve their defense and give them another scoring option.
